Mr Miller Cafe sits on a bustling corner of Miller Street in Preston, offering a casual spot where locals drop by for a solid coffee fix and a laid-back bite. With a tram stop right outside, it’s especially convenient for commuters or anyone looking to pause before continuing their day.

The café has a relaxed vibe that shifts naturally with the weather. On sunnier days, the courtyard out back becomes a preferred hangout spot—string lights overhead and a cluster of tables make it ideal for groups or anyone wanting to take a quiet moment outdoors. Locals seem to appreciate this spot not just for quick coffees but also for lingering over brunch or casual meals.

The coffee on offer covers the essentials well, from espresso through to chai lattes and cappuccinos, fitting into the neighborhood’s steady demand for good, uncomplicated caffeine. Their chai latte and cappuccino come recommended by regulars, though the coffee experience can vary just a bit in consistency. Beyond coffee, the kitchen turns out creative takes on café staples — think poached eggs alongside treats like zucchini fries, falafel bowls, and some cleverly named tacos.

Food-wise, Mr Miller leans into a blend of sweet and savory with items like pancake stacks and chips featuring prominently. For a snack or small meal, the falafel bowl or truffle croquettes have drawn praise for their balance of flavors, with the tacos a standout when the kitchen has the expected fillings available. There’s also a noteworthy smoothie that combines peanut butter and açai, which seems to have its own following.

Service here tends to be accommodating and friendly, with staff helping out with group reservations and splitting bills, which makes it practical for gatherings. The atmosphere is one of a community hub — not overly polished or pretentious, but genuinely welcoming and easygoing.

  • Best for: Casual coffee runs, brunch groups, and neighborhood catch-ups
  • Who enjoys it most: Commuters, local families, and friends meeting over a relaxed meal or coffee
  • Best time to visit: Sunny weekends for courtyard seating or weekday mornings for a quick espresso before heading out
  • Atmosphere: Unhurried, friendly, with a casual indoor space and a bright, tree-shaded courtyard out back

Lovely cafe and friendly staff. I called toake a reservation for my group and they were very accommodating. We sat in a beautiful courtyard. We found the way to pay separately and we ate yummy food (sweet and savoury) and coffee.

This cute cafe in the beautiful suburb of Preston has such a vibe. With the tram stop right in front of the doorstep, the smell of coffee will just pull you here. - Coffee was good. - Date and walnut bar- Absolutely favourite! - The Zucchini fries. - The Falafel bowl. - The Chicken Parma. They have a courtyard that can accommodate a large group. We went on one of the cold but sunny weekends.

A great selection of menu options that cater to a variety of tastes! For food, we tried the Truffle Croquettes, Cauli Pops, What You Tacoing About, and Don't Chicken Out. The standout dishes for me were the Truffle Croquettes and the Tacos. The tacos were supposed to come with braised pulled beef, but they ran out and replaced with minced beef instead. I imagine they would have been even better with the pulled beef, but the minced beef was still a good substitute. The Miso Grilled Chicken, unfortunately, was a bit underwhelming for me—I couldn’t taste much of the miso flavour, which I was looking forward to. That said, the portions were generous, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, which made for an overall enjoyable dining experience.

I cannot get the Millers Favourite smoothie out of my head. Peanut butter and açai? Yes. Just yes. The food was delicious, the outside eating area was so cute with all the lights. Next time I’ll need to try the pastries and the donuts because they’re straight out of a Simpsons episode - and MASSIVE.

A spicy chilli scram that came with meat (chorizo), greens, and a hash! $26 what a steal! Enjoyed the butter sauce around the plate too! The coffee was average.

This is truly a hidden gem cafe you need to visit! We sat in their outdoor courtyard soaking in the last few summer days but still well shaded from the sun. It’s a perfect spot for a family brunch, bestie catch up, or just coffee to go. We ordered: ⭐ Chilli Scram - good amount of spice and well balanced ⭐ Calamari Salad - soooo much calamari and delicious seasoning ⭐ Don’t Pancake Around (in caramel sauce)- heavenly! ⭐ Green Juice ⭐ Iced Mocha Look at those generous portion sizes and stunning plating! We were so impressed by the amount of calamari in the salad and how delicious the pancakes were! We will definitely be back soon to explore more of the menu
